This project required making 2 variations of a record cover for a band that I liked, with the intention of analysing them at the end. I chose Måneskin’s latest album, and used the name of the first song, Valentine, on the album as the title. I played with 2 aspects of the term, valentine. The first being the heady rush of lust experienced in a club, and the second being the more comfortable long term relationship but still keeping things fun with sexy underwear kind of deal that I figured would be a fun contrast to the actual music itself, which leans more the first definition. I created an seemingly endless number of thumbnails in order to get the feel and right balance of sex + humour, as the band doesn’t appear to take themselves too seriously.

The process for the preferred cover (red fishnet cover), involved downloading images of legs in fishnets, stripping back unwanted details in photoshop and using image trace in Illustrator to achieve the cheap, screen printed feel, with text carefully balanced to keep the strong use of line throughout.
The secondary cover (brick wall cover) involved photographing my clothing, washing line, and brick wall, tracing and sketching in Illustrator, and composing everything in Photoshop.
