This project involved creating an opening sequence for a non existent television show using Adobe After Effects and requiring careful choices of music and transition effects. I wanted a show that felt a lot like classic Australian literature, where the landscape is a character in its own right. ‘McCleod’s Daughters but traumatic’ is the feel I wanted to portray.
I started with a mood board that echoed the feel I wanted to portray, and included places like Rockhampton where something of this genre would be set.
The music was the starting point for this project. The dramatic cellos in the Bach conveyed everything I wanted to express, which was multilayered and timeless.
The vanity card was inspired by Terry Gillam’s simple, but popular animation style. I have long loved creating stop motion animation, and this was a fun, simple, project. The end result is short, fun, and distinct.
